Seed Thought: Asking questions

A buddy of mine and I are helping a woman in our ministry with her car.

We took her to get her car diagnosed where I get mine fixed.

Keep in mind that I am white, my buddy is white, and this woman is African American.

Today, I went to pay her bill.
The owner asked what we were doing helping her.
To him, it was obviously strange that two white guys were helping an African American woman.
He asked if we knew her from our church.
I said yes.
I love doing something in the name of Jesus that looks so strange that it makes people ask questions!

Redeeming a name

Talked with a friend recently who wanted to get rid of his last name.

Either it's impossible or very hard to do such a thing legally.

He decided that all he could do was make his last name mean something good again.

That's what God does with us! Since the flood, God chooses to no longer get rid of us and start over. He works with what he's got, constantly trying to redeem a good creation gone bad.

That's why he can take someone with a horrible past and give them hope again.
That's why he can take humanity's darkest hour at the cross and turn it into salvation for the world!

God is amazing...understatement of the year!

Seed thought: Justice vs. Grace

People who want to live by justice will be judged justly.

People who want to live by grace will be judged graciously.

God gives us the choice in how we want to be judged in the end.

I choose grace! God help me to keep choosing grace.

Seed Thought: Mission Statement

I've been trying for four years to come up with a mission statement for our campus ministry.
This past week, I found it!

Rebels for Christ Mission Statement:
Making disciples who will change the world for Christ.

Simple, but maybe it has the right combination of grit and vision to become a reality!
