Gulf Coast Memories

Tuesday, January 22, 2008 Share: |

Hey everybody!
Just wanted to remember some gulf coast moments.
Share some of yours as well.

1. DC renewed his membership in the Polar Bear club.

2. We had 28 Rebels for Christ at Gulf Coast! (Grown from 4 to 8 to 16 to 28!)

3. 1800 students, ministers and elders raised $19,000 for Cure International and 100x missions.

4. We donated towels, underwear and sheets to the Panama City shelter.

5. We got to use Lendy's trailer to take all the items and we gave away the rest of the clothing items from the OCOC.

6. Laura and Heather did an amazing job of providing fellowship and hospitality for our group through communal meals! Thanks to the others who helped them.

7. I'm glad Tracey and Little Rachel grew closer in Christ.

8. We have let the sub-normal become normal.

9. What am I sick of settling for? Who will I walk with? Will I be a conduit or a consumer?

10. When people try to add to the saving work of Christ, we say, "Nowhere, No way, no how, never!"

11. Lay down some of your freedom for the sake of others.

12. There is bondade in isolation, but freedom in community.

13. God is with us in the peaks, the pits and the plateaus.

14. Chris to Randy--"Let's pray. I'll dial, you hang up."

15. I can't believe the Giants are in the superbowl.

16. We went deep in our small group time--thanks brothers!

17. Building 429 was great...love the t-shirts!

18. Tracey and I need to start supporting World Vision or Christian Relief Fund.

19. Cure International and 100x Missions are amazing Christian organtizations.

20. Tracey and I went up front as a prayer team and got to pray with student strangers--one was Aaron and the other was Gelina for me. Both had soft hearts longing to see their parents/family come to know Christ.

21. We've got to stop thinking that people only come forward for scandals. We can all come forward for prayer.

22. Another Aaron confessed his addiction to pornography to 2000 students.

23. I'm thankful our ministry is more than white middle/upper class Ole Miss students, but I pray for more diversity in our little body of Christians and seekers.

24. Man it was COLD!!!

25. I need to see how God wants to open my heart more to the power of contemplative prayer. Thanks Randy!

26. Me pretending to run into the ocean and being cheered on--it's a good pic...coming soon!

27. When so many students stood up when Chris asked how many had struggled with doubt and whether this Jesus thing was for real.

28. Marlon's mourning being turning into dancing.

29. Eric and Melanie standing when Chris asked if any had lost children.

30. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free!!!

There's a 100 more memories in my mind, but this is a start.
Thanks for all who went. I pray the transformation will continue.
Peace.

Really great memories :) Best weekend of my life!

1. "If you can do __x__, then the world says you are worth __x__." I have worth, because Jesus loves me and died on the cross for me.

2. "Don't flaunt knowledge; rather, lay down your freedom and love." (both of which come from Jesus!)

Here are some songs that I really enjoyed singing in worship to God (with 2000 students in the same room!):

1. At The Cross

Oh Lord You've searched me
You know my way
Even when I fail You
I know You love me

Your holy presence
Surrounding me
In every season
I know You love me
I know You love me

(Chorus)
At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me
There's no greater love than this
You have overcome the grave
Your glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now

You go before me
You shield my way
Your hand upholds me
I know You love me

(Chorus x2)

(Refrain) (x2)
You tore the veil
You made a way
When You said that it is done

And when the earth fades
Falls from my eyes
And You stand before me
I know You love me
I know You love me

(Chorus x2)

(Refrain x4)

2. Great in Power
Praise Him you heavens and all that’s above
Praise Him you angels and heavenly hosts
Let the whole earth praise Him

Praise Him the sun moon and bright shining stars
Praise Him you heavens and waters and skies
Let the whole earth praise Him

(Chorus)
Great in power, great in glory
Great in mercy, King of heaven
Great in battle, great in wonder
Great in Zion, King over all the earth
